It seems that all major analysts in the IT area share this opinion: Gartner, AMR and Meta Group predict the substitution of established EDI standards along with the legacy rigid and expensive point-to-point solutions by the share of information over the Internet based on the Extensible Markup Language (XML). AMR expects the market for ASP based SCEM solutions (Hosted Supply Chain) to grow from 71 million US$ in 2001 to 1.4 billion US$ in 2004.
